Tom Homan Speaks at Immigration and Customs Meeting
During the Republican National Bar Association’s annual policy meeting, Tom Homan, the director of immigration and customs executive, shared alarming insights about human trafficking.
He described rescuing a 14-year-old girl who had been trafficked and was found to be pregnant. “We found one two days ago. A 14-year-old girl. She lives with two adult men. We trafficked her,” he mentioned, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
This is heartbreaking. Tom Homan explains a child who has just been saved from a horrifying situation.
“We found her, she’s pregnant. Because trafficking is forced.”
Homan elaborated, stating, “We found her, she’s pregnant. Because human trafficking has led to prostitution. She’s just 14. We’re taking care of her, both physically and mentally.”
He also confronted some of the misconceptions surrounding immigration enforcement. “Despite what the media is saying, we are not heartless. We care about these kids. I’m a father,” he emphasized.
His commitment to combatting human trafficking was clear. He remarked, “This happens every day. We’re going to put an end to it. Everything we can do.”
A recent report from the Ministry of Homeland Security indicated a significant decrease in encounters with illegal immigrants, noting a 93% decline in daily encounters and a 95% drop in those who evade detection. These statistics contrast sharply with the previous administration, which faced accusations of a record failure in border management.
The Trump administration has already made strides to enhance enforcement, arresting over 151,000 illegal aliens and deporting more than 135,000. A multi-agency law enforcement initiative resulted in the capture of numerous violent offenders, including murderers and drug traffickers, in just a few days.
