On Saturday evening, reports indicated that a Mexican naval ship carrying over 200 individuals collided with the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.
The vessel, which had a crew of 277, experienced a significant incident before 9 PM when it “clashed” with the base of the bridge, resulting in one of its large masts falling onto the deck.
Multiple injuries were reported following this event.
Footage shared on social media, showing the illuminated ship approaching the bridge, captured the moment the mast fell upon impact.
According to sources, search and rescue efforts are currently underway.
Victims are being transported to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, while those in serious condition are taken to nearby hospitals for further care.
Reports also indicated that the ship “damaged the mast” but continued to move beneath the bridge.
New York City emergency management confirmed they are responding to the incident at the Brooklyn Bridge base, although specifics remain unverified as the situation evolves.
