Rob Gronkowski couldn’t hide his amusement when a joke about Jordon Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of Bill Belichick, came up.
In an episode of the YouTube series “Sunday’s Conversation,” the former New England Patriots tight end found it hard to contain himself when host Caleb Presley made a playful remark about the 73-year-old coach’s much younger partner.
Presley mentioned that Belichick had a new woman in his life and teased Gronkowski about it.
“Bill has gotten 24,” he joked, to which Gronk responded, “Buffalo Bills?”
Presley corrected him, asking if he had ever met Belichick’s girlfriend, which sent Gronkowski into fits of laughter.
“He got me,” he chuckled. “How did you fall for that?”
Gronkowski seemed to view Hudson as a bit of a distraction for the head coach at the University of North Carolina.
“You know, even in the background, you’re just thinking about yourself too,” he reflected. “When you were a Patriot, it was about cutting out distractions while on the team,” he added. “And don’t bring those distractions into your team or locker room. It’s like looking down at the North Carolina program; it’s a distraction all day long. No talk of football either.”
Belichick has faced scrutiny, especially after his “CBS Sunday Morning” interviews in April, during which he often paused. Last week, he spoke to ESPN and said his relationship with Hudson was “to the side” and that it had nothing to do with UNC football.
However, he noted that Hudson was included in an email from the football program since no one was managing the sports information department.
“It’s going to be a personal opportunity. It might be addressed in various ways,” Belichick explained on the podcast. “She helped me sort it out.”
He shared that when UNC sent an email mentioning that people wanted to talk to him, he responded by saying he wanted to include Jordon in those discussions for filtering purposes.
“We didn’t have a sports information guy, so Jordon was essentially handling those communications, which also contributed to the story.”
