Springsteen Criticizes America Under Trump
Bruce Springsteen, the iconic rock musician, continued to voice his criticisms of the United States during a performance in Manchester, England, despite someone telling him to “shut up.” He referred to the U.S. government as “fraudulent” and dedicated a song to “dear leader,” an apparent nod to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Springsteen expressed his concerns about the state of democracy in America, stating, “It’s happening now that we’re changing the nature of our country’s democracy. They’re way too important to ignore.” He further lamented the mistreatment of individuals expressing dissent, emphasizing that his home country punishes free speech.
“In America, the wealthiest men are willing to let the poorest children suffer from illness and even death. That’s happening now,” he remarked. He added that there seems to be a cruel joy in the suffering imposed on dedicated American workers and criticized the rollback of civil rights laws that had pushed for justice over the years.
Springsteen accused the government of improperly deporting immigrants and questioned the fairness of reimbursing universities for hosting diverse opinions.
In response, Taylor Rogers, an assistant press secretary for the White House, addressed Springsteen’s remarks, stating that the 77 million Americans who oppose elitist celebrities like Springsteen are free to remain abroad while he enjoys the benefits of safe borders and lower inflation.
Recently, Springsteen riled up President Trump by questioning the current administration during his European tour. He noted, “In my home, America that I love has been a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years, but now it’s in the hands of corrupt and incompetent administrations.” He called on everyone who believes in democracy to stand against authoritarianism and champion freedom.
President Trump reacted by pointing out that Springsteen is overseas speaking negatively about him.
