Former President Biden’s Health and Longtime Doctor Under Scrutiny

The White House physician who once declared former President Joe Biden in good health is also a close family friend. Dr. Kevin O’Connor has been the official doctor for the 82-year-old Biden during his time in office.

In light of Biden’s recent prostate cancer diagnosis, the nature of O’Connor’s relationship with the Biden family is now facing increased examination.

O’Connor, whom Biden affectionately refers to as “the doc,” has been caring for both Biden and his family members for over a decade. Additionally, he has business connections with Biden’s younger brother, Jim Biden, stemming from their collaboration on a rural hospital initiative.

Critics have previously voiced concerns regarding their close ties. For instance, Rep. Ronnie Jackson, a Republican from Texas, suggested last month that O’Connor is too integrated into the Biden family.

“He’ll take actions to protect his family, regardless of the professional implications,” Jackson commented at that time.

Following the cancer announcement, former President Trump brought attention to O’Connor’s previous positive assessments of Biden’s health, particularly after the latter’s final physical in February 2024.

“It’s the same doctor who claimed there was nothing wrong, and now it’s a concerning situation,” Trump stated. “I think someone needs to have a word with his doctor.”
