Louisiana jail staff member accused of helping 10 inmates escape from Orleans Parish Jail.

Maintenance Worker Arrested for Aiding Prison Escape

A maintenance worker at the Orleans Parish prison was taken into custody following allegations of assisting ten inmates in their escape.

According to the office of Attorney General Liz Maryll, 33-year-old Sterling Williams faces ten charges for simple escape and misconduct during his employment.

Williams allegedly confirmed to investigators that an escapee instructed him to turn off the water in the cell where the breakout occurred. Instead of reporting this, he complied, facilitating the inmates’ escape.

Currently, Williams is booked in the Orleans Parish Jail but is expected to be transferred to another facility soon.

“This investigation is still ongoing, and we’ll provide updates as they come,” Murril stated. “Ultimately, anyone who shares details and cooperates will be prosecuted fully under the law. We urge anyone with information to come forward for the best possible outcomes.”

This arrest happened just hours after the fourth fugitive, Gary C. Price, was recaptured. Three of the ten inmates—Kendall Miles, Doken Dennis, and Robert Moody—were apprehended within a day of escaping.

Louisiana State Police conducted a safe helicopter transport of three of the inmates early Saturday, informing the media that they were being moved to a secure correctional facility.

Various law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, and local levels are actively searching for the remaining escapees.
