Transgender Athletes Gaining Dominance in Women’s Sports

There’s an ongoing trend where men, identifying as women, are entering women’s sports and consistently outperforming female athletes. A host, Alex Stein, shared his thoughts on this developing issue and referred to these athletes as “wild ribters.”

The spotlight has been on Lear Rose, who previously competed as Zachary and recently took first place in the Varsity High Jump at an Oregon high school event. During the event, a spectator was heard shouting, “It’s a boy!” while watching Rose perform. It’s an interesting situation, reflecting the mixed emotions surrounding the participation of transgender athletes in women’s events.

Another notable athlete, Ana Caldas, is also making waves in women’s competitions this year. Caldas has triumphed in recent national championships, easily winning five races and finishing a 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke race, four seconds ahead of the nearest female competitor.

“His real name is Hugo,” noted Blaze news writer Andrew Chapados during a conversation with Alex Stein. “This individual competes in the class for women ages 45 to 50 and consistently outshines them.” It’s worth acknowledging how this scenario sparks significant debate about fairness in competition.

However, it’s not just transgender athletes like Caldas who are raising eyebrows. Last year, Ada Gallagher, a transgender student, clinched victories in both the 200m and 400m races at the 6A-1 Portland Interscholastic League Championship. While her success provoked outrage among some, she won again in 2025 at Oregon High School, demonstrating her continued prowess.

During this season, Gallagher has outperformed the field by more than seven seconds. “People find it hard to accept that this is happening regularly,” Chapados explained. “They’re breaking records almost weekly, while women are left wondering what they can do, apart from possibly joining them.”
