Fried pickles are making their debut at Shake Shack.
On Tuesday, the restaurant announced that it has added this new item to its menu, marking the first time they are offering fried pickles, rather than just their signature crinkle-cut fries.
The dish features dill pickles cured in a unique saltwater brine, fried until they achieve a perfectly crispy exterior, and served alongside a homemade shack sauce.
“We’re putting crinkle cuts on hold as we introduce our latest side,” the announcement stated. “Fried pickles are here, and they’re here to take center stage.”
This addition seems to align with the growing excitement around Shake Shack’s summer barbecue menu.
Last year, roughly a third of customers who sampled the summer offerings expressed their enthusiasm for the fried pickles included in the chain’s Carolina BBQ Burger and Carolina BBQ Chicken Sandwiches, according to the company.
Interestingly, a similar proportion of fast-food patrons have shown interest in expanding their side dish options, especially pickles.
The fried pickles will be available for a limited time for $3.99.
They were initially part of toppings for two sandwiches in the summer barbecue lineup.
In other news, Shake Shack has also introduced a new shake—the Dubai Chocolate Shake—drawing inspiration from a popular chocolate bar filled with pistachio cream.
In celebration of National Burger Month, Shake Shack is offering free burgers daily from May 1st to June 1st.
Customers can enjoy one of four different burgers for free each week when ordering via the shack app, online, or through a kiosk using the code “Burgermonth.” Additionally, those who spend over $10 at a franchise become eligible for delightful giveaways.
From May 19th to May 25th, a free avocado bacon burger will be offered, followed by a free shack burger from May 26th to June 1st.
