Horn Section TV Shows
10pm, Channel 4
The second season of Alex Horne’s comedy musical show is still a bit of an enigma. It’s quirky, which some might find amusing, while others might say it’s a bit overdone. Still, it flows nicely, thanks to the music. The mix is complex, even clever at times, and the opener features an odd little song that gets a bit eerie—all in honor of the ever-growing Horn family.
Marie Antoinette
9pm, BBC 2
The second season continues with its dramatic flair set in the tumultuous French monarchy. Marie Antoinette faces the challenge of convincing Louis that he’s the father of her unborn child. There’s a hint of doubt, perhaps stirred by Pale Jeanne’s risky charity work, but also there’s Count Fersen of Sweden in the mix.
Taskmaster
9pm, Channel 4
This season, the long-running show has brought on some interesting new recruits. Joining the ranks of British comedians are Jason Mantzoukas (not British), Matthew Burnton (not exactly a stand-up comic), and Rosie Ramsey (also no comedian). This week, while Mantzoukas is busy fitting raisins into a box, Ramsey manages to create a bit of chaos involving Alex Horne’s pants.
The Secret Life of Honeybees
9pm, Channel 5
It’s hard to overstate just how crucial bees are to our existence. Steve Backshall’s new series dives into the various bee species in the UK, which number around 270. Each species plays a unique role within the ecosystem. Backshall emphasizes why we simply can’t afford to lose these vital insects.
Poker Face
9pm, Skymax
Charlie Kale takes us on a wild ride through a small American town. This episode centers on a baseball player whose death may not have been accidental. BJ Novak guest stars this week.
Rocket Fuel
9.50pm, BBC 3
In another quirky short comedy from BBC 3, “Rocket Fuel” is set in a Bradford kitchen where two bored young men, Renny and Mallett, stumble upon an abandoned car. They use their imagination to transform it into a spaceship.
