Jake Tapper faces criticism from a former NFL reporter at ESPN

Criticism of Jake Tapper’s New Book on Biden

Former ESPN NFL reporter Ed Werder recently praised CNN broadcaster Jake Tapper in light of his new book, “Original Singh: The Decline, Cover-up and the Disastrous Choice of Running Again.” He acknowledged a sense of “humility” regarding a report about former President Joe Biden.

Tapper, along with co-author Alex Thompson, has faced criticism for allegedly downplaying Biden’s health issues during his presidency. They’ve both appeared on various platforms to address the media’s shortcomings in reporting on Biden’s health.

Werder, a veteran journalist, commented on this situation in a post. He stated, “He sold his credibility as a journalist for access to power, and now I hope he will benefit from the audience who lied to him.” His remarks reflect a broader sentiment among journalists and critics calling out media practices.

Public figures like John Stewart and Charlamagne Tha God have also weighed in, discussing media coverage surrounding political books. While some on CNN supported Tapper, others questioned whether he would ever discuss Donald Trump’s decline in a similar manner.

Mika Brzezinski, a supporter of Biden, challenged the concept of “concealment” during a discussion with Tapper and Thompson on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” Meanwhile, Naomi Biden defended her grandfather shortly after the book’s release on social media.

One critic described the book as “political fairy smut for the permanent, professional chattering class,” criticizing both its originality and the motives of its authors. This backlash highlights ongoing debates about media integrity and responsibility, especially in politically charged contexts.
