Billionaire investor Julia Koch considers purchasing a share in the NY Giants, according to a report.

Investor Julia Koch is reportedly interested in acquiring a minority stake in the New York Giants.

Koch, the widow of billionaire David Koch and part of New York City’s wealthiest family, previously invested nearly $700 million in BSE Global, the owner of the Brooklyn Nets, last year.

BSE Global also manages the WNBA’s New York Liberty and the Barclays Center.

As of now, Koch and her family have a collective net worth of $74.2 billion, according to Forbes, with aspirations to invest in local sports teams, like the Giants, as suggested in a CNBC report.

Both Koch’s representatives and the Giants have not yet commented on this potential deal.

This transaction is still evolving, with some estimates suggesting investors might hold below a 10% stake, sources indicated to CNBC.

Former Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who played for the team for 16 years, mentioned earlier this year that he would contemplate being a minority owner if small stakes were offered.

Additionally, former Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry and ex-Giants player turned ABC News host Michael Strahan are reportedly collaborating to bid on shares of the Giants, as noted by Sportico.

Forbes estimated the value of the New York Giants at $7.3 billion as of August 2024.

In recent months, numerous limited partner transactions have occurred after NFL owners approved private equity investments in their franchises last summer.

In December, two investment groups purchased an 8% stake in the Philadelphia Eagles, valued at $8.3 billion.

During the same month, Ares Management and Joe Tsai, owners of BSE Global, were involved in a deal worth $8.1 billion for approximately half of the Miami Dolphins, which includes related assets like Hard Rock Stadium and the Miami Open Tennis Tournament, as per sources.

This week, the NFL also sanctioned a 6.2% minority stake sale for the San Francisco 49ers, estimated at $8.6 billion.

Julia Koch inherited her wealth from her late husband David, who gained significant assets through their family’s Koch Industries, holding a 42% stake in the energy and chemical conglomerate.

He died in 2019 and left behind Julia, along with their three children: David Jr., Mary Julia, and John Mark.
