Abdul Carter’s time with the Giants starts with a $45.3 million rookie contract

The Giants have high hopes for Abdul Carter, especially now that he’s officially part of the team.

This 21-year-old recently signed a four-year rookie deal worth $45.3 million, which includes a substantial signing bonus of $29.5 million.

As a first-round draft pick, the Giants have the option to extend his contract for a fifth year if they see fit.

Carter will be participating in the Rookie Mini Camp this spring and will also be training at the team facility throughout the offseason program. The first organized team activity practice is scheduled for May 27th.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, Carter was selected third overall. He followed behind quarterback Cam Ward, who was picked by the Titans, and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, who was acquired by the Jaguars through a trade.

Last season, playing for the Nittany Lions, Carter recorded 12.5 sacks and made 23.5 tackles.

The plan for Carter is to primarily utilize him as an external linebacker, though he has experience as an internal rusher from his earlier college years. This versatility could prove valuable.

Alongside teammates like Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Cavon Thibodeau—who are all first-round selections—Carter’s addition could significantly strengthen the Giants’ defensive lineup, especially with new corners like Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland joining through free agency.
