RNC Claims All Democrats Voted Against Key Legislation
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) successfully passed a significant tax and spending bill with a slim margin of 215-214-1 early Thursday morning.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) asserted that President Donald Trump played a crucial role in this achievement, emphasizing major benefits for Americans, including tax credits.
“Today, thanks to President Trump’s leadership, House Republicans have delivered a major win for the American people. This is a bold package that upholds the promise of the largest tax cut in history and fortifies border security,” the RNC stated.
They criticized Democrats, saying, “They voted against tax credits for hardworking Americans, against immigration enforcement, and against the majority of people who support extending Trump’s tax cuts.”
The RNC continued, “Republicans are striving to prevent taxing tips or overtime while Democrats push for the largest tax increase ever. The contrast is clear: Republicans prioritize America, and Democrats do not. This is what the American people wanted, and Republicans are delivering.”
August Pflugger, chair of the Republican Research Committee (RSC), echoed that “House Republicans made history” by passing what he called “one big beautiful bill.”
He argued that this law would broaden the impact of President Trump’s historic tax cuts, enhance funding for border security, and reverse detrimental Democratic policies from the last four years. “The American people gave us a clear mission in November, and we responded with a significant conservative victory,” he remarked. “We kept our promise!”
President Trump also highlighted the bill’s importance, stating it represents “a historic signing in our nation’s legislation.”
He detailed some features, including tax cuts, no taxes on tips or overtime, tax credits for buying American-made vehicles, strong measures for border security, and financial support for border agents. He called on the Senate to “act quickly and send this bill to my desk!”
“We can’t afford delays. Democrats seem lost and lacking in confidence, resolve, or determination,” he added.
