Jaden McDaniels pushed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander during a heated moment in Game 2

Timberwolves Frustrated After Game 2 Loss to Thunder

The Minnesota Timberwolves are feeling the heat after their second game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which has them on edge as they aim for a top seven spot in the series.

In a solid performance, Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander racked up 15 free throw attempts during the game, contributing to a dominant 118-103 victory. Timberwolves’ defensive standout Jaden McDaniels had hoped to make Gilgeous-Alexander feel the impact of a foul more significantly.

McDaniels found himself on the court for just six minutes while Minnesota struggled throughout the matchup.

As tension mounted, Gilgeous-Alexander charged toward the lane and overcame McDaniels, which resulted in McDaniels pushing him to the floor.

Players from both teams looked taken aback as the situation escalated.

“I just wanted to foul him for real,” McDaniels noted. “I wasn’t even angry. It was a foul I felt needed to happen.”

ESPN’s Mike Breen remarked on how Gilgeous-Alexander skillfully cleared the defender’s arm before drawing the foul.

Breen emphasized, “Look at how he pushes that left arm away. That’s what the Timberwolves are upset about and want called.”

Timberwolves coach Chris Finch had previously voiced his concerns over officiating even before the series commenced, suggesting that the referees had gotten into the players’ heads over the first two games.

“There was a lot of frustration, but we talked about this before the series started,” Finch said post-game. “We need to shift our focus and adopt a ‘Next Play’ mindset.”

Gilgeous-Alexander has faced criticism for flopping in attempts to draw fouls this season.

In the first game, he attracted a questionable foul in the opening quarter, which upset star Anthony Edwards.

Despite the controversy, Gilgeous-Alexander celebrated a significant achievement by winning the NBA MVP Award, surpassing reigning MVP Nikola Jokic on Wednesday.

Now, the Timberwolves head into Game 3 looking to turn things around, with the series currently at 2-0 against them.
