Hannah Gutierrez Reid Released from Prison
Hannah Gutierrez Reid has been released from a New Mexico prison following her involvement in the unfortunate shooting incident on the set of the film Rust, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was tragically killed.
In March 2024, Gutierrez Reid was convicted of involuntary manslaughter stemming from a 2021 incident involving a live round discharged from a prop gun that was in Alec Baldwin’s possession.
Currently, she has an appeal regarding the conviction pending in higher court, although she was acquitted of charges related to evidence tampering during the investigation into the Rust shooting.
After serving 18 months, she was released from the New Mexico Correctional Institution. Gutierrez Reid is now required to return to Bullhead City, Arizona, on parole, following her involuntary manslaughter conviction related to Hutchins’s death.
As part of her parole conditions, she must undergo a mental health assessment and is prohibited from possessing any firearms.
Prosecutors had claimed that Gutierrez Reid mistakenly brought live ammunition to the Rust set and neglected fundamental gun safety practices.
In addition, she is under supervised probation due to a separate guilty plea for illegally carrying a firearm in a licensed liquor establishment just weeks before filming began.
Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin faces involuntary manslaughter charges related to the incident that resulted in Hutchins’s death on October 21, 2021. However, in July 2024, a judge dismissed the case against Baldwin, citing prosecutorial bias and concerns about withheld evidence from the defense.
