Medical Tech Company Semler Scientific Acquires an Additional $50,000,000 in Bitcoin, Now Holds Over 4,000 BTC

Semler Scientific Expands Bitcoin Holdings

Semler Scientific, a U.S. medical tech firm, has recently invested an additional $50 million into Bitcoin (BTC).

A new filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reveals that the company acquired 455 Bitcoins between May 13 and May 22.

Currently, Semler holds a total of 4,264 Bitcoins, which they purchased for approximately $390 million, averaging about $91,471 per BTC.

At the time of this report, Bitcoin is valued at around $107,322, and the company’s Bitcoin holdings are valued at over $457.6 million. However, top cryptocurrencies by market cap have dipped nearly 4% in the past day after hitting a record high of $111,814 on Thursday.

Eric Semler, the founder and chairman of the board, noted that his company has seen a 25.8% yield on BTC since the beginning of the year.

According to data from bitcointreasuries.net, Semler Scientific ranks as the 13th largest holder of Bitcoin globally.

In May 2024, the firm became the second company in the U.S. to adopt a Bitcoin financial policy for public companies, following a strategy that mirrors MicroStrategy, which began investing in digital assets in 2020. MicroStrategy currently holds 576,230 BTC, valued at around $62.14 billion.
