Alexa Ray, daughter of Billy Joel, responds to her father’s diagnosis of a brain disorder following the cancellation of his tour dates.

Billy Joel’s Health Update Sparks Emotional Tribute from Daughter

Billy Joel’s daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, shared a heartfelt tribute after the singer was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, leading to the cancellation of all his upcoming concerts.

In her post, Alexa praised her father as “the strongest and most resilient man I’ve ever known,” expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from fans.

“We love you, and we got you, pop,” she wrote on Instagram, along with a touching black-and-white painting that depicted a young girl holding hands.

“As he continues to regain his strength, he is dedicated to a full recovery through ongoing physical therapy treatment,” she added, emphasizing her father’s determination.

On Friday, Joel announced that he would have to cancel all scheduled concerts due to his recent medical examination.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) occurs when cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the skull, putting pressure on the brain. This condition often affects individuals over 65 and can sometimes be treated surgically or even reversed.

The musician’s team mentioned that continuing to tour could worsen his brain condition, highlighting issues with hearing, vision, and balance that have been exacerbated by recent performances.

“I’m so sorry for letting our audience down, and thank you for understanding,” wrote the famed “Uptown Girl” singer.

All concerts scheduled through July 3, 2026, have been cancelled, including a much-anticipated show with Rod Stewart at Yankee Stadium on July 18, 2025, and another with Sting at Citi Field on August 21, 2025.

Alexa expressed deep appreciation for the care and empathy shown towards her father, noting that it means a lot to both of them.

Closing her post, she included lyrics from the Grammy-winning song “Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel),” reflecting on love and the lasting bonds we create.
