Federal authorities have apprehended several individuals linked to a drug ring in Houston, which has connections to a cartel. This organization is believed to have trafficked significant amounts of various drugs, including heroin, meth, cocaine, mushrooms, pills, and marijuana.
This week, the U.S. Department of Justice revealed the dismissal of 29 charges against 15 alleged members of this Houston-based operation, accused of multiple offenses related to drug trafficking and firearms. Officials claim the group transported various drugs from South Texas to Houston for distribution. Most of the individuals involved have been arrested recently.
Federal prosecutors mention that one member of the group, known as Marcos Rene Simaj Guch or “Taco Man,” operated a food truck which was allegedly used as a front for drug sales.
“It is alleged that this smuggler brought methamphetamine directly from Mexico and utilized U.S. mail, taco trucks, and several homes in the Houston area for the sale and distribution of meth and other harmful substances.”
During the operation to dismantle this group, authorities confiscated a number of weapons, including handguns and rifles.
“The defendant is said to be involved in multi-drug distribution networks and has allegedly used illegal firearms to support these activities, which is a common practice in drug trafficking.” “Some charges indicate that the methamphetamine is purportedly sourced from Mexico, underscoring the importance of enforcement efforts at our borders.”
