Hasan Piker, known for his leftist views, was banned from the streaming platform Twitch following a suggestion from the Israeli embassy regarding violence in Washington.
The 33-year-old claimed that his account, which boasts over 2.8 million followers, was frozen due to a “critical investigation” concerning the manifesto of a terrorist suspected of killing two embassy employees outside the Jewish Museum on Wednesday night.
Piker described the incident as having “all the hallmarks of a false flag operation,” although he personally didn’t consider it one.
On social media, he shared news of his temporary ban, stating, “I think this is a bad policy for news and freedom of the press,” along with a screenshot of the email notifying him of his suspension from the platform.
Streaming as Hasanavi, he faced suspension for “inappropriate handling of terrorist propaganda” and for “sharing content related to terrorist or violent extremist groups.”
This announcement sparked backlash, as some critics accused him of anti-Semitism, likening him to leftist figures like Joe Rogan. One user replied, “You called it a false flag. You hate Jews, you’re an anti-Semite.” Piker quickly denied these accusations.
Twitch has yet to respond to inquiries about the situation.
