Actor Jonathan Joss Fatally Shot in Texas
San Antonio, Texas – Actor Jonathan Joss, who is widely recognized for his voice role in the animated sitcom “King of the Hill,” has tragically died following a shooting incident in Texas.
Reports indicate that the 59-year-old was shot by a neighbor.
According to KTLA, police received reports of the shooting around 7 p.m. on Sunday, discovering Joss lying “near the road.” Officers attempted life-saving measures until emergency medical services arrived, but unfortunately, Joss was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later updates from KTLA revealed that a 56-year-old man, identified as Sigfredo Alvarez Seja, has been taken into custody and charged with murder. Sources have suggested that Seja lives in the same neighborhood.
TMZ was among the first outlets to report on Joss’s death, stating that some witnesses claimed they heard gunfire after a dispute escalated. However, law enforcement has not confirmed whether Seja and Joss were neighbors.
Joss’s partner, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, shared details on social media, explaining that they were returning to their burned property when they were confronted. De Gonzales mentioned feeling threatened by local residents and recounted that the house caught fire amid ongoing disputes. A neighbor suggested that Joss might have accidentally started the fire while trying to stay warm.
“The house burned after more than two years of threats from people who insisted they would set it ablaze,” de Gonzales posted. “We reported these threats to law enforcement numerous times, but no action was taken.”
He expressed that they faced regular harassment, primarily of a homophobic nature, stating that many made it clear they did not approve of their relationship. De Gonzales also noted finding disturbing items at home, which deeply affected both of them.
He described the moment of the shooting, stating that a man hurled a violent homophobic slur just before fire was exchanged, and Joss pushed him out of harm’s way. “He saved my life,” de Gonzales remarked.
De Gonzales further emphasized that Joss was a victim of hate, asserting, “He was murdered by someone who could not accept two men in love.” He mentioned that both of them were unarmed and not posing any threat to others.
Now, de Gonzales is focused on honoring Jonathan’s legacy and the life they shared together.
Joss was known for voicing John Redcorn in “King of the Hill,” and his work also included roles in “Four Types of Aiding,” “The Magnificent Seven,” and “Eternal Purge.” According to the Internet Movie Database, he had a diverse career in both voice acting and live-action roles.
