Michael Moore Reimagines the Pledge of Allegiance

On Monday, filmmaker and activist Michael Moore shared a revised version of the US Pledge of Allegiance, encouraging his audience to come together against former President Donald Trump and his followers. His rephrased pledge emphasizes unity, declaring, “I pledge my loyalty to the people of the United States, and to the democracy where we all stand: one person, one vote, one country, one part of the world, one table seating! Everyone!”

Moore, known for his compelling documentaries like “Fahrenheit 9/11,” expressed that despite the chaos surrounding the current political landscape, it’s imperative to fight for a nation that seems to be spiraling deeper into challenges.

After presenting this new pledge, he urged his readers to take action. He suggested several quick tasks, such as sending simple email messages to elected officials, making calls to council members, joining local progressive organizations, and signing petitions for upcoming rallies.

Moore emphasized the importance of ongoing political engagement, stating, “Our minds don’t go for more than a second without creating a beat. Our lungs don’t skip for more than three seconds without inhaling.”

He implored his followers to commit to at least one political action each day.

In the past, Moore has vocally criticized gun rights in the US, even proposing a “28th Amendment” to the Constitution aimed at repealing the Second Amendment and implementing nationwide gun control. He argued that the rights and safety of citizens should not be compromised and must be safeguarded by legislators.
