Red Sox and Angels engage in heated pregame argument

On Wednesday, a bit of drama unfolded at Fenway Park involving the Red Sox and the Angels before their game.

A social media clip captured players exchanging heated words near the third baseline as Boston was warming up.

The trouble reportedly kicked off when Angels pitcher Tyler Anderson confronted Red Sox base coach Jose Flores.

They had to be separated earlier, but later on, Angels pitching coach Barry Enright stepped in, engaging in a back-and-forth with Flores.

Coaches and players from both sides gathered around, but, interestingly, it seems no one actually threw any punches or got physical.

According to reports, this tension might have roots from a previous encounter, where the Angels suspected Flores of stealing signs during Anderson’s pitching on Monday night.

MLB Insider Microdriguez backed this up, mentioning that when Anderson spotted Flores again, he felt the need to address the situation directly.

Just so you know, Anderson struggled in his last start on Monday, allowing five runs and seven hits over five innings.

This whole misunderstanding set the stage for what turned out to be a wild game between the two teams.

In the first inning, the Angels got off to a hot start, scoring four runs, but the Red Sox quickly responded by putting up five runs in the bottom half.

The game went all the way to the ninth inning, where Red Sox player Sedanne Rafaela hit a two-run walk-off home run, marking the shortest walk-off homer in Statcast history at just 308 feet.
