In-Game Antics at the Dodgers-Mets Game
What could make the Mets’ 6-0 lead even more enjoyable? A bit of unexpected in-game entertainment, of course.
As Mets outfielder Starling Marte approached the plate during the eighth inning of their game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, a shirtless man suddenly dashed onto the field.
This enthusiastic fan sprinted through the outfield at Dodger Stadium, quickly outpacing most of the security personnel.
Unfortunately, his pants couldn’t quite keep up with his speed, which led to his capture. Shortly after, security managed to catch him, and a pile-up ensued.
He was promptly escorted out of the stadium through the Center Field gates. It’s unclear what his ultimate goal was, as the broadcast crew from SNY remarked on the spectacle.
Gary Cohen humorously questioned the motive behind such antics, noting, “What is the endgame with these field runners? It often leads to pain and cost.”
While the intruder himself didn’t make it onto SNY, viewers enjoyed watching the reactions of the Mets’ dugout. First baseman Pete Alonso was all smiles, pointing and laughing at the scene alongside Brandon Nimmo.
For Alonso, witnessing the commotion was an entertaining highlight on an already excellent night.
In the end, the Mets secured a 6-1 victory over the Dodgers, with Alonso contributing two home runs and five RBIs. Now, the Mets are looking to finish the four-game series strong with another win on Thursday.
