‘They Have Common Goals’: Charlie Kirk Foresees the Reconciliation of Trump and Musk

Kirk Believes Trump and Musk Will Eventually Reconcile

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, expressed on Thursday that he thinks President Donald Trump and Elon Musk will ultimately mend their publicly strained relationship, as both leaders share similar goals.

Recent tensions escalated between Trump and Musk, with public exchanges that included attacks and financial threats. Speaking on “Ingraham’s Angle,” Kirk admitted he was taken aback by the feud but maintained hope that a reconciliation would occur.

“I think they will reconcile at some point because I really believe they both desire the same outcomes. However, what President Trump wants regarding this legislation must be very clear,” Kirk stated.

Kirk highlighted the legislation as a primary source of disagreement between the two figures. He noted, “This is not an omnibus bill or a giant bloated one. It’s not a tax on tips, either. The most effective border security often comes from increasing the number of ICE agents, who have not seen a rise in personnel in nearly two decades.” He continued, “We’re on track for significant energy independence, taxes on remittances, and asylum application fees. Finally, we can allocate substantial resources for deportation and witness the middle-class and blue-collar movements we saw under Trump.”

Kirk commended both individuals, reflecting, “It’s challenging to see today’s situation, and in some ways, it’s regrettable. I appreciate their contributions to preserving our society. Elon Musk acquired X a few years back. He faced considerable legal challenges, even risking 700 years in federal prison. His resolve not to surrender or retreat stands out.” He remarked on how the public feud is disheartening.

Trump indicated that his opposition to the bill arose after learning that Musk had removed the electric vehicle mandate, hinting at economic motives behind their discord rather than ideological differences. Musk, in a response, denied Trump’s assertions, claiming he had no knowledge of the bill.

After winning the 2024 election, Trump appointed Musk to lead efforts for government efficiency and tasked billionaires with addressing federal spending waste. Musk announced at the end of May that he would terminate his planned role as a special government employee, concluding a controversial period that faced significant Democratic backlash, particularly after his team sought to dismantle the U.S. International Development Agency.
