Brooke Shields openly discussed passing her gemstone collection down solely to her daughter, Greer Henchy, after her passing.
The actress mentioned that her 19-year-old daughter “gets” the significance of these pieces. “I gave it to her,” Shields said.
She laughed while sharing, “I literally will never do that again,” during a recent interview about natural diamonds.
Shields, at 60, clarified that Greer “understands the distinction between the genuine article and the fake.” It’s not just about gold and diamonds, she emphasized.
“She recognizes the history and the stories tied to these pieces,” Shields added.
Celebrating a recent milestone birthday, the bestselling author has been married to Chris Henchy since 2001, and they have two daughters together.
Reflecting on her legacy, Shields noted that her eldest has experienced a significant loss regarding everything she has done for them.
“I am quite obsessed with gems and diamonds,” she admitted, lightheartedly. “That might sound a little strange.” But, she explained, after working hard, there’s something empowering about treating yourself.
Shields revealed that her appreciation for gemstones is deeply rooted. The founders of her haircare line learned their love for diamonds from their late mother, who passed away in 2012.
“My mom always said, ‘Buy your own diamonds; don’t wait for a man to give you some,'” she recalled, sharing that her first emerald-cut diamond was a gift from her mother.
She reminisced about shopping for jewelry with her mother during her childhood travels. “Wherever I went, there was a jewelry store. In Asia, it was pearls; elsewhere, it was diamonds or brooches,” she recalled.
This love for gems came from her mother’s experiences growing up in poverty, where they symbolized something more significant in life.
