Donald Trump reacts to the return of suspected gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia

Trump Responds to Abrego Garcia’s Return

President Donald Trump reacted to the unexpected illegal return of Salvadoran immigrant Kilmer Abrego Garcia, stating bluntly, “He’s a bad guy.” This response came amidst charges against Garcia for gang-related activities.

Trump expressed concern over Garcia’s re-entry during his remarks to reporters while aboard Air Force One. He emphasized that the Justice Department had reached a decision regarding the situation, suggesting that the public would soon see just how “terrifying” Garcia truly is.

“The DOJ has made the decision,” Trump stated. “I think their decision is very good.”

He went on to voice frustration about a local judge’s actions, implying that the judiciary seemed to be overstepping its bounds. “This man has a terrible past,” Trump added. “I noticed a decision to bring him back, which showcases how alarming this individual is.”

In a broader context, Trump highlighted a perceived conflict where the judicial system was encroaching on presidential authority. “We need to act, as the judge seems to be taking the place of the president elected by a landslide,” he noted.

Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old illegal immigrant from Maryland, had previously been deported in March, accused of being affiliated with the violent MS-13 gang. After his deportation, some Democrats defended his return, claiming he was incorrectly removed from the U.S.

Attorney General Pam Bondy announced that Abrego Garcia is set to face federal charges in the U.S. for human smuggling and conspiracy. Bondy confirmed that the indictment indicated Garcia’s significant role in a human smuggling operation that had been active for nearly a decade.

Bodycam footage from a 2022 traffic stop captured the moments when police became suspicious of Garcia’s activities. “He’s transporting people for money,” a trooper remarked during the encounter.

Despite claims from Democrats portraying Garcia as a “family man,” court documents revealed that his wife had filed a protection order against him back in August 2020. Senator Chris Van Hollen, representing the Democratic perspective, has publicly called for Garcia’s return.
