Shaquille O’Neal Stands Firm on ESPN Changes

Shaquille O’Neal has emphasized that he won’t be altering his approach with the upcoming changes at his network.

During his appearance on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Friday, O’Neal reiterated that he and co-host Charles Barkley would maintain the essence of ESPN.

“I’m not concerned because I know everyone stays the same. And I know a couple of guys who are close to him,” O’Neal remarked. “Listen, Ernie [Johnson] is the ideal expert; he adapts effortlessly.”

O’Neal recognized the importance of Johnson, noting, “Ernie really shields us from trouble, Kenny is a pro, but Chuck is right on that edge, and I’m just beneath Chuck. Chuck hasn’t changed at all.”

At 53, O’Neal cited “The Pat McAfee Show” on the network as an example of what “Inside the NBA” could look forward to next season.

“I actually caught something yesterday where ESPN mentioned they’d offer a similar approach to what Pat McAfee provides,” he noted. “So, we’ll just keep doing our thing, discussing the games we love and hopefully making people laugh along the way.”

Both O’Neal and Barkley have made it clear they intend to stay true to their personalities despite shifts in the network, with Barkley daring ESPN to terminate his contract just last month.

“I’m not changing who I am,” Barkley stated during a discussion on Outkick’s “Don’t Do It @Me with Dan Dakich.” “They can’t fire me. I earn too much for that. If they let me go, they would still owe me for seven years, and that’s not happening.”

“The only choice we’ve made is about my work hours… I’m not worried about losing my job.”

“Inside the NBA,” which has been a staple on TNT since 1989, will transition to ESPN next season, with Turner set to produce the program under a licensing agreement.
