Bill Maher Comments on Trump and Musk Feud
Bill Maher is completely focused right now on the ongoing clash between Donald Trump and Elon Musk. This drama has really captivated him—so much so that during Friday night’s Real Time with Bill Maher, he described it as a kind of spectacle, jokingly comparing it to “Godzilla vs. King Kong,” but with some bizarre twists.
The relationship between Trump and Musk has certainly soured lately, turning into a mix of snarky political remarks and personal digs. Maher characterized their previous closeness with quips, saying they were akin to celebrity couples like “Blingerina and Bennifer,” and even offered his own nickname for the duo: “Elump.”
Last week, Maher took a jab at Musk following a sports incident that left Musk with a black eye. Trump had apparently offered Musk makeup to hide the bruise, to which Musk declined. Maher found this amusing, questioning, “What kind of person wears makeup?”
The HBO host highlighted the escalating nature of this feud, noting that Musk has disparaged Trump as harboring “nasty hatred,” while Trump himself implied that Musk is suffering from “Trump crazy insanity syndrome.” The tension is further complicated as Musk has raised concerns about Trump’s tariff policies, suggesting they might lead to a recession.
But that’s not all. Maher pointed out Musk’s claims that Trump undermined the electric vehicle mandate, which Musk argues benefitted Tesla—though Musk has often denied this. There’s also been some insinuation regarding Epstein, with Musk hinting that Trump might have secrets to hide.
“This is a war that continues to escalate,” Maher asserted.
As the situation intensifies, Maher joked about the absurdity of a potential collaboration between them, suggesting, “Tomorrow, Elon will obviously stop by the White House and pick up his CD and the mixtape they’ve made together.”
There’s a real risk here, too—Trump is hinting at the possibility of cutting government contracts and subsidies for Musk. Maher wrapped up his commentary with a tongue-in-cheek remark, “So, in the end, I think Elon saved taxpayers money.”
