Rod Stewart Cancels Concerts Due to Ongoing Flu
Fans of Rod Stewart will have to wait longer to catch the rock legend live as he has canceled his next six performances due to a persistent illness. The iconic singer shared on his Instagram that, “As we continue to recover from the flu, we will need to cancel and reschedule the next six concerts in June.”
Stewart expressed his apologies, saying, “I’m sorry, but my friend. I’m ashamed to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our fans.” It’s clear he values his supporters immensely.
Despite the cancellations, he reassured fans, “I’ll see you soon when I’m back on stage,” signing off as “Sir Rod.” There’s still anticipation for his scheduled performance at Glastonbury later this month, though many are worried about his readiness to hit the stage after these postponements.
This will be particularly significant for Stewart as it marks his return to a music festival for the first time in over two decades. He expressed his excitement about Glastonbury, saying, “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing Glastonbury in 2025!”
Earlier this week, Stewart had also canceled a show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on doctor’s orders, citing ongoing health concerns. “I am extremely sorry that I have to cancel my show… My doctor ordered a little more rest while I am recovering,” he stated, thanking fans for their understanding.
Last weekend, he had to inform fans that he couldn’t go on just hours before he was supposed to perform. He maintains that he appreciates the love and support he receives during this tough time.
Stewart, who recently mentioned a desire to take a step back from performing, reassured his audience that while this marks the end of a major world tour for him, he isn’t planning to retire anytime soon. “I love what I do and do what I love,” he shared, humorously noting his fitness levels at 79. Fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on his health as well as his return to the stage.
