Jennifer Garner Embraces Aging at 53

Jennifer Garner has openly discussed her perspective on aging as she approaches her 53rd birthday, expressing a sense of acceptance and gratitude for this stage of her life.

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she reflected on how she feels about her age. “It’s really like 53 because a part of me really gets every minute of every day each year,” she said. “I don’t want to be younger.” For her, being this age is a gift, allowing her to feel empowered and wise.

Garner, who has children Violet, 16, and Samuel, 13, with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, noted a newfound appreciation for her physical appearance as she grows older. “Part of the gift of being a mother’s daughter is that I don’t spend much time highlighting my physical appearance,” she shared. However, she admits that sometimes she could pay a bit more attention to how she presents herself.

“There are positives and negatives,” she mentioned about her experiences with paparazzi over the years. “Sometimes I look at the monitor at work and think, ‘Ahhh, oh, that’s me!’ But I don’t stress too much about aging,” she added.

Garner expressed a clear desire to age gracefully, even joking about wanting to reach 100 years old. “I want to wear every bit of 100 years and feel great about them,” she said. She also emphasized the importance of sunscreen, saying her dermatologist friend has given her valuable advice about skincare over the years. “Sunscreen is getting old well,” she noted, reflecting on her past lack of diligence in using it during her 20s.

Currently, Garner hasn’t ventured into cosmetic procedures and instead focuses on a solid skincare routine. “I don’t judge anything that makes everyone feel their best,” she stated. “But I don’t feel I need it yet.” She has an aversion to Botox and prefers her natural expressions. “I like being able to move my forehead, that’s a big part of my face,” she explained.

For Garner, staying active also plays a role in feeling good about herself. “Exercise with someone younger and healthier than me” keeps her energy up, she said.

Interestingly, she finds the aging process liberating. “It’s the best to get older! You’re more confident and less worried about you,” she shared, even expressing joy in her relationship with her teenage kids. “They’re so smart and funny. They make me laugh,” she added, hinting at the ups and downs of parenting teenagers.

Last month, her daughter Violet wrote an academic paper for Yale University, where she shared opinions that sometimes diverge from her mother’s views, particularly on climate change. Violet noted her surprise at Garner’s reaction to a recent disaster, which reflects their differing perspectives on issues like global warming.

During that time, Garner volunteered at World Central Kitchen, revealing that she lost a friend in the fires. “I feel almost guilty when I walk around my house,” she said, highlighting the emotional weight of such events.
