Texas Republican states L.A. is just the beginning as deportations across the country are set to increase significantly.

Representative Tony Gonzalez (R-Texas), who serves a district along the southern border, expressed support for President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard. He characterized this action in Los Angeles as merely the “tip of the iceberg.”

During a segment on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” he responded positively when asked about the National Guard’s deployment, stating, “Yes, I’m happy with that.”

Reflecting on his two decades of military service in LA, Gonzalez noted, “It’s tragic to see the situation unfolding there.”

He emphasized, “But it’s more than just the supporters we notice in LA; we’re facing anarchists. The president needs to take action promptly. Honestly, this is just the tip of the iceberg.”

Gonzalez predicted that protests against incidents related to immigrants would likely persist nationwide, especially as the Trump administration pushes for quicker expulsions.

“Safety is my priority. I want to see security not just in LA but everywhere. Yet, this really is just the tip of the iceberg. We’re talking about a hundred thousand individuals being deported,” he remarked.

When asked if the Trump administration was targeting red or blue areas, he suggested that the administration’s primary goal is to expedite the removal of individuals. “It’s going to affect the entire nation, and again, this is just the tip of the iceberg,” he added.

Gonzalez pointed out that under the Biden administration, over 400,000 asylum seekers have either not followed through with lawsuits or faced dismissal.

“So, we could argue that these individuals are here illegally and should be deported immediately. But we can also argue that their situations may not be just,” he said.

He expressed concern that the situation is intensifying, warning that it won’t be limited to LA alone but could spread to cities nationwide as the efforts to expel individuals continue.
