Adam 'Pacman' Jones' recent arrest demonstrates excessive policing, according to his agent.

Concerns about the actions of Covington police have been raised by representatives of former NFL cornerback Adam “Pac-Man” Jones. They described his recent arrest as an example of “enthusiastic policing.”

Jones was taken into custody early Saturday morning, facing charges including public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and assault.

Peter Schaffer, Jones’ agent, contended that the player “did nothing wrong” and that his only “offense” was merely asking why he was being arrested.

According to Schaffer, the officers initially alleged assault, then shifted to public intoxication, which is not even a crime in some places unless it leads to dangerous behavior. Ultimately, they settled on disorderly conduct, simply because he questioned his detention. “This pattern of escalating and inconsistent accusations reflects an alarming misuse of authority, suggesting that police might be prioritizing their discretion over individuals’ constitutional rights,” he stated.

“Like any American, Adam is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Yet, it seems his past is being weaponized in public discourse while the officers themselves evade scrutiny for their actions.”

The police report indicates they were called to a bar around 1 AM on Saturday due to claims of “obstruction involving clients and employees” and noted a vehicle attempting to leave the area.

Upon stopping the car driven by Jones, authorities accused him of being under the influence of alcohol, linking it to both his level of dependency and his conduct.

The police reiterated that “Adam Jones is held to the same standards of conduct as any other community member.”

Over the years, Jones has had multiple interactions with law enforcement. For instance, he was involved in a dispute at a hotel in Arlington, Texas, and, notably, Jake Paul was arrested at the Cincinnati/Kentucky International Airport in 2023 after a confrontation with Mike Tyson.

Jones has not played in the NFL since 2018, having dedicated the majority of his career to the Bengals, along with brief periods with the Titans and Cowboys.
