That looked painful!
During the anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles over the weekend, police intervened after striking a protester who was navigating the scene on stilts. The aim was to alleviate tensions amidst the chaos.
A striking video captured demonstrators, one waving a Guatemalan flag, approaching law enforcement before they tackled him to the ground and pulled him toward the assembled crowd.
Over the weekend, thousands rallied against President Trump’s aggressive deportation policies.
In the midst of the unrest, vandals targeted unmanned Waymo taxis—damaging them, smashing windows, and even setting five vehicles on fire.
Images from the protest depicted a shirtless individual standing atop one of the destroyed taxis, proudly holding a Mexican flag amidst a backdrop of flames and smoke.
In response to the escalating situation, Trump deployed 2,000 California National Guard members on Saturday.
In a statement on True Society, Trump remarked, “Los Angeles has been overrun and occupied by illegal aliens and criminals. Now, violent mobs are attacking federal agents to obstruct our deportation efforts, but these chaotic riots only bolster our determination.”
Police reported that one faction of protesters launched fireworks at officers while another engaged in looting near Broadway.
“Tonight, we encountered individuals launching commercial-grade fireworks,” noted LAPD chief Jim McDonnell, emphasizing their potential danger.
Additionally, several in the crowd hurled broken glass bottles and chunks of concrete at officers attempting to restore order.
As per LAPD reports, at least 27 individuals reported stolen items on Sunday. The chief acknowledged that his officers felt “overwhelmed” by the escalating violence and vandalism after three days of protests in the city.
