Elon Musk criticized his AI chatbot, Grok, on Sunday.
This came after a now-deleted post that seemed to intensify a rift between Musk and President Trump last week.
Katy Miller, who was Musk’s advisor and spokesperson for the Ministry of Government Efficiency, had left the White House with the Tesla CEO not long ago.
The post on X allegedly featured a fabricated screenshot where Musk appeared to respond to Stephen Miller with the line, “I took your wife with me,” according to Grok’s summary.
When Grok was asked about the post, it stated, “It exists and is likely deleted.”
“The engagement metrics and the context shown in the screenshot align with Musk’s behavior, but since it’s been removed, direct verification is not possible,” Grok noted. “While made screenshots can happen, the evidence seems to point toward it being an authentic but deleted post, consistent with Musk’s tendency to remove controversial content.”
Musk reacted with frustration to Grok’s comments, clarifying that the post was fake.
This interaction comes as the tension between the Tesla CEO and Trump seems to have cooled after a public disagreement they had last week.
The conflict arose shortly after Musk’s departure from the White House and was sparked by Musk’s criticism of Trump’s extensive tax and spending proposals.
However, the dispute escalated quickly, with Trump threatening to revoke a major government contract involving Musk’s firms. Musk even made personal jabs, which included a swipe at Jeffrey Epstein, who accused him of abandoning the president and siding with Trump’s opposition.
By Friday, Musk’s tone on social media had shifted towards a more conciliatory note, yet over the weekend, he appeared to back Trump in his ongoing clash with California officials regarding immigration protests in Los Angeles.
