Bryce Dallas Howard Reflects on Growing Up in Hollywood
Bryce Dallas Howard recently shared her experiences growing up in the Hollywood spotlight, discussing both the perks and challenges she faced. As the daughter of renowned actors and filmmakers Ron and Cheryl Howard, she opened up about her childhood in a recent interview while promoting her film, “Deep Cover.”
“I was a really messed up kid. I walked around reading a lot of Disney stories about euthanasia,” Bryce remarked. She insisted that, while her interests may seem dark, they actually spoke to a deeper strength she found in those narratives.
Reflecting on her childhood, she said, “When I was growing up, I faced many challenges in learning and communicating. I was always smiling and cheerful, but often felt I wasn’t able to express myself fully.” Howard, the eldest of four siblings, recalled that her parents took her to see a child psychologist at one point. “I remember the therapist asking, ‘Can I talk about a dead baby?’ because that was a topic I often brought up,” she added with a hint of humor.
Despite the struggles, she was grateful for her parents’ unwavering support as she pursued acting. “If it hadn’t been for my success in acting, I think I would have felt lost. There was never a plan B in my mind, so I feel incredibly fortunate,” she noted. Howard acknowledged her privileged upbringing, understanding that her family background provided her insights into the industry that others might not have.
Over the weekend, Bryce’s parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Ron expressed his gratitude on social media, describing their marriage journey as a mixture of calm waters and turbulent rapids. “Thank God for you, Cheryl,” he wrote.
In a previous conversation, Ron reflected on the importance of luck in maintaining a long-term relationship. He mentioned that compassion and the ability to grow together are key factors, emphasizing that compatibility and good fortune continue to define their marriage.
