No Kings Protests Receive High-Profile Support

Christy Walton, an heir to the Walmart fortune, has taken a strong stance in support of the “No Kings” protests by purchasing a full-page advertisement in the New York Times (NYT) Sunday Edition. Images of the ad have been circulating online, drawing attention to the cause.

Scheduled for June 14, the protests aim to rally Americans against the Trump administration. The organization’s website expresses that this is not just a day of rebellion but a call for action in both urban and rural areas to push back against authoritarianism, showcasing what true democracy looks like.

The ad features the headline “No Kings June 14th Mobilization” alongside the No Kings of Liberty image and includes a QR code that directs to the group’s website. It states, “We are people in the United States. The honor, dignity and integrity of our nation are not for sale.”

According to a spokesperson, millions are expected to join the protests across more than 1,800 planned events. The spokesperson noted that Walton’s advertisement shows a commitment to civic engagement, highlighting a response to authoritarianism and urging collective action.

Walton has reportedly previously invested in similar ads, encouraging Americans to participate in local civic activities, as mentioned in sources. A full-page advertisement in the NYT can reach costs of around $1.4 million.

Attempts to reach Walton for comments on her advertisement went unanswered at the time of publication. Christy Walton is the widow of John Walton, the son of Walmart founder Sam Walton, and she inherited a significant portion of his wealth following his tragic death in a plane crash in 2005.

As of June 10, 2025, her net worth is estimated at $19.3 billion. During the 2020 presidential election, Walton was a notable supporter of the Lincoln Project, an organization that opposed Trump, using funds to support Democratic candidates in key states.

In January 2020, she reportedly became the first billionaire to contribute $20,000 to the Lincoln Project. It has also been noted that she was one of the last billionaires to make donations to the group after Biden’s inauguration.

Bloomberg reported that she co-hosted a fundraising event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for former Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. The upcoming No Kings March also coincides with Flag Day and the 79th birthday of Donald Trump.

The protests will occur alongside the planned U.S. military parade celebrating the 250th birthday, although there will be no events in downtown Washington, D.C. The “No Kings” organization asserts that this is a moment for true power to manifest not just in the capital, but across the nation.
