Christie Walton is known for her significant wealth and liberal views, often channeling her resources into causes she believes in. With a net worth surpassing $19 billion, she has made headlines for backing various political initiatives. Last year, Walton co-hosted a fundraiser for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign and recently contributed to a group that supports Senate Democrats.

Before that, she invested heavily in the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump organization founded by several former Republican strategists. Despite some controversies surrounding the group, Walton has continued her financial support. The Lincoln Project even staged a fake white supremacist rally in 2021 before the Virginia gubernatorial election, which drew criticism and discussion.

It seems Walton is now shifting her focus, looking to back causes with more significant impact. This is particularly evident as she, along with other Walmart heirs, seeks to address rising tensions surrounding law enforcement and civil liberties. A recent ad in the *New York Times* boldly declared statements like “We defend dictatorial attackers” and “We support and defend the Constitution,” reflecting the complex nature of the current political landscape.

Almost resembling ads from March, Walton’s new campaign included a call to action, accompanied by a QR code leading to a website promoting a planned “No Kings” protest nationwide on June 14. This event aims to mobilize citizens in response to what organizers see as authoritarianism and corruption in the current administration.

While President Trump plans to commemorate the Army’s 250th anniversary with a parade in Washington, the No Kings protest is intended to serve as a counterpoint. Organizers envision gatherings across the nation as an expression against what they perceive to be “strongman” politics and institutional corruption.

Interestingly, Walton’s involvement features a network of radical organizations, including various coalitions focused on social justice and equity. Even Bernie Sanders has lent his support to the cause, tackling inequality while maintaining a visible public presence.

Randi Weingarten, leader of the American Federation of Teachers, is arranging an event for the No Kings initiative, emphasizing civic engagement and dialogue among citizens. The driving force behind the protest is the 50501 Movement, a left-leaning organization focused on opposing Trump. It’s worth noting that one of the Massachusetts chapters organized recent protests against immigration enforcement, revealing the increasingly interwoven nature of local and national dialogues.

An organizer from 50501 described their rally as a necessary response to what they call “acts of war” against American freedoms. The sentiment is that the Trump administration’s policies equate to a declaration of war on citizens’ rights.

A source close to Walton clarified that her messaging is aimed at fostering dialogue and peaceful engagement for the upcoming protest. Reports suggest she’s advocating for a platform where diverse perspectives can share voices without resorting to violence.

Some commentators, however, have speculated that Walton’s activism might tie into broader business interests or motivations. Walmart has not issued a comment regarding her recent political endeavors, and inquiries to the Walton Family Office went unanswered. In contrast, a White House representative urged caution among those planning protests, asserting a commitment to citizen safety, particularly in contrast to what they see as failures among Democrat leaders.
