Pelosi Says Violence from L.A. Riots Resulted from 'Energy of the Moment'

Pelosi Claims Los Angeles Riots Involve Violence and Destruction

Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has accused a mob in Los Angeles of setting fire to law enforcement officials, damaging vehicles, looting businesses, and engaging in other violent behaviors.

During a press conference, Pelosi noted that large gatherings attract anarchists who view the situations as opportunities to cause chaos. She suggested that images and videos showing “burning cars or broken windows” might stem from “momentary enthusiasm” or the actions of anarchists.

“As a former party chair, I can say that when rallies happen, anarchists see a chance to disrupt,” Pelosi mentioned. “So, you should be cautious about what you see—those burned cars and broken windows could represent a moment of excitement or could very well be the work of anarchists.”

Her comments are in response to videos and photos circulating on social media from anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles, which depict demonstrators vandalizing property, hurling rocks at law enforcement officers, and even looting businesses.

In reaction to the unrest, President Donald Trump has mobilized 2,000 California State Guard troops as federal support to mitigate violence.

Chief Sean Parnell, from the Pentagon, confirmed on Monday that the Department of Defense is deploying “an additional 2,000” California National Guards to assist local law enforcement safely.

“Following the president’s order, we are mobilizing more California National Guard personnel for federal service to aid ICE and ensure federal law enforcement can carry out their responsibilities securely,” Parnell stated.

However, the deployment of thousands of National Guards has been criticized by some Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and Senator Adam Schiff. They characterized the action as “dangerous escalation” and “intentionally inflammatory.”
