Travis Decker Manhunt Update
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has taken over as the main investigative agency in the ongoing manhunt for Travis Decker in Washington State. A statement released on Wednesday confirmed that the Wenatchee Police Department is no longer playing a significant role in the search for Decker, who is currently 32 years old.
This shift in responsibility comes as the focus of the investigation narrows in on the rugged wilderness of Chelan County, where Decker was last spotted. The sheriff’s office is collaborating with state and federal agencies, employing various tactics like aerial surveillance, K9 units, and patrols through the backcountry.
On June 10th, law enforcement mentioned they had received credible leads from hikers who reported encountering individuals who seemed out of place and possibly unprepared for the terrain. The sounds of their presence were noticed near Ingal Creek and the Valley High area during late-night hours.
The sheriff’s office stated, “We recently received tips indicating that this hiking group observed solitary hikers in the enchantment areas who appeared unprepared for the trails and weather.” Acting on this information, authorities deployed a helicopter and spotted a person who swiftly fled the area.
This search area is approximately 30 miles from where Decker’s three daughters—Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5—were found deceased on June 2, just three days after he failed to return to his mother following a court-sanctioned visit.

Decker, a former Army infantryman believed to possess considerable survival skills, presents a challenge for the authorities. They’ve labeled him “dangerous,” urging community members to refrain from attempting to confront him. Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison emphasized the potential threat, noting, “We are dealing with someone who’s undergone military training and possibly knows how to navigate the wild effectively.”
If apprehended and convicted, Decker could face a life sentence in prison without parole.
