Quarterback Drake May of the Patriots has tied the knot with his childhood friend, Anne Michael Hudson, just five months after getting engaged in January.
May casually revealed the news during a recent press conference, where he discussed his plans for the offseason before training camp kicks off next month.
“My plan is photographing,” the 22-year-old shared. “I have one more practice day, and, well, I’m getting married in two weeks.”
He mentioned that aside from wedding preparations, he’s focused on gearing up for the upcoming season.
Details about the wedding were not provided.
May proposed to Hudson during a trip to Mexico earlier this year.
They have been together since they were 12 and both attended the University of North Carolina. Hudson recently graduated in April.
The couple celebrated Hudson’s bachelorette party in Seaside, Florida, last month.
She was supportive of May when he was picked as the third overall choice by New England in the 2024 NFL Draft.
During the recent offseason, May faced some challenges but felt he was making progress adapting to the new offensive system under coordinator Josh McDaniels.
“I’m really starting to find my way,” May stated. “The concepts are similar in the league, but the terminology is different. It’s almost like the same players, but you begin to grasp how they perform these routes and get timing down with new concepts.”
First-year head coach Mike Vrabel commended May for stepping into a leadership role in his second year.
“At 22, he shows a lot of natural leadership traits,” Vrabel noted. “It’s important to keep encouraging him and helping him understand the different roles he plays—off the field, in meetings, and during practices. Each version has its own nuances,” he added.
The Patriots are set to kick off their 2025 season against the Foxborough Raiders on September 7.
