Kamala Harris Subtly Leaves a Voicemail for Newsom During LA Riots

Kamala Harris Addresses Los Angeles Unrest

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has recently reached out to Los Angeles leaders, calling on Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom to engage in discussions regarding the protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the city, according to a report by Politico.

Despite her attempts, Harris, who lives in Los Angeles, couldn’t get through to Newsom directly but did leave a voicemail expressing her support. The situation escalated over the weekend when President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles in response to the riots.

In a statement posted on social media, Harris criticized Trump’s decision as a “dangerous escalation.” According to an unnamed source, her response to the LA riots is rooted in her California background and her experiences with civil rights protests during her formative years.

Additionally, there’s speculation about Harris’s political future. She is reportedly weighing a run for California governor in 2026 or perhaps looking toward the 2028 presidential race. A deadline for her decision has been set for this summer, as reported back in March.

Concerns raised by some supporters suggest that Harris’s potential candidacy for governor could be complicated, particularly given her defeat to Trump in the 2024 presidential election. In fact, she lost all seven critical battleground states in that race.

Political consultant Steve Mavilio pointed out that if Harris decides to pursue the presidency in 2028, she will face intensified competition. He noted that if she opts for a run as governor, she remains one of the most prominent anti-Trump figures in California.

Both Harris’s and Newsom’s offices have not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the situation.
