Candace Cameron Bure Cautions that Horror Films Can Open a Door to Evil

Candace Cameron Bure Discusses Scary Movies on New Podcast

In her latest podcast, actor and director Candace Cameron Bure expressed her belief that avoiding horror films is essential, as they serve as a pathway for evil to enter one’s home. During a conversation with Levvre, son of Harrik Leek Baptist Church in Texas, and guest pastor Jonathan Pokruda, Bure delved into her views on film and spirituality.

Bure also mentioned her children mocking her opinions on the subject.

“I tell them, ‘You’re opening a portal.’ Watching these scary movies, it’s like a video game or something; it’s a channel that brings things into our home. For me, viewing horror films at home feels like a gateway,” she said.

Bure acknowledged her background in the film industry, noting the extensive crew involved in productions, making it clear that it’s not just entertainment, but something more profound.

Pokruda echoed Bure’s concerns about portals, recounting a past controversy on social media when he declared his refusal to purchase a certain water brand, suggesting it was linked to darker forces. “They claim to sell your soul, hire a witch, and curse your drink,” he recounted.

He humorously recited the typical remarks he received in response, such as “Okay, Karen,” indicating people were dismissive of his thoughts.

On the podcast, he explained, “This is how Satan operates. He’ll disguise himself in various forms.” He emphasized the importance of not being naive to these influences.

Pokruda continued, sharing that he’s heard of actors picking up magic tricks and spells to enhance their performances. “If you watch it, you’re essentially inviting it into every household,” he stated.

Lev Buhl pointed out that his views on film are even more conservative than those of his mother. He remarked, “Without worshiping God and dedicating time to Him, there’s a void that evil can fill. Acknowledging this can motivate you to stand firm against those attacks.”
