Caitlin Clark scores three 3-pointers in 38 seconds in her comeback against Liberty

Caitlyn Clark’s Impressive Return

Caitlyn Clark wasted no time getting back into the swing of things. The WNBA Rookie of the Year is back on the court just three weeks after a quad injury she sustained while facing off against the New York Liberty, the reigning champions. Her team, the Indiana Fever, played Saturday.

In her first quarter, Clark made quite an impression, scoring 14 points, including nine of them in a rapid-fire 38 seconds. It was quite the comeback.

Emulating Indiana legend Reggie Miller, she nailed a couple of three-pointers as the first quarter wound down. New York’s Marine Johnson quickly matched her with some three-pointers of her own, but Clark wasn’t done yet—she knocked down another triple just 21 seconds later.

Meanwhile, Natasha Cloud from the Liberty struggled with her shooting. Clark was on fire, and with just over 40 seconds left in the quarter, she made another shot from beyond the arc, momentarily bringing the Fever within two points of the league’s top team. Unfortunately, her streak didn’t last long. She missed three shots shortly after, maybe the adrenaline wore off?

Nevertheless, Clark quickly found her rhythm. By halftime, she’d managed to score 25 points, hitting several more three-pointers along the way. It’s worth noting that while she was sidelined, the Fever had a mixed record of 2-3, managing to secure wins against the Washington Mystics and the Chicago Sky.

Clark’s performance was notable—she averaged 19 points, 9.3 assists, and six rebounds over her previous four games before her injury. It seems like her numbers are already climbing again.

The Fever led the game 53-50 at halftime, which keeps things interesting. I think fans are eager to see how the rest of the season unfolds!
