Aaron Rodgers Signs One-Year Deal with Pittsburgh Steelers
After a lengthy negotiation period, Aaron Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, has finally signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to reports from last week.
On June 7th, the Steelers shared a photo of Rodgers signing his contract, accompanied by the caption “Done Deal.” The contract is reportedly worth $13.65 million, with $10 million guaranteed, along with incentives that could push the total to $19.5 million.
Rodgers’ transfer to Pittsburgh has elicited mixed reactions from fans and analysts alike. Notably, former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has recently shared his views on the potential impact of Rodgers on the team.
Roethlisberger, in a discussion on his “Footbahlin” podcast, expressed doubts regarding whether the 41-year-old quarterback would play a key role in the 2025 season. He mentioned that he thinks, well, maybe, Rodgers may not have much more than this year ahead of him.
He reflected on Rodgers’ recovery from a torn Achilles that ended his 2023 season, recalling his own experience after returning from a significant elbow injury in 2019. Roethlisberger indicated that he, personally, felt quite aged after his injury layoff.
“From my elbow experience, it was like I was 100 years old,” Roethlisberger noted. He suggested that Rodgers might feel more prepared this year but acknowledged the physical toll of returning from an injury.
Additionally, Roethlisberger expressed uncertainty, suggesting that this could be a pivotal moment in Rodgers’ career. He emphasized, “I think this might be his last move.” This remark comes as the Steelers confirmed that Rodgers will wear the number 8 jersey this season, a shift from the number 12 he wore during his successful tenure with the Green Bay Packers. Interestingly, number 12 was also worn by the iconic Terry Bradshaw during his time with the Steelers.
Rodgers is embarking on a new journey, which, I think, has everyone curious about what the future holds for him and the team.
