Ryan Tedder Supports Military Parade Despite Political Division

Ryan Tedder, the lead singer of the pop band OneRepublic, has voiced his backing for President Donald Trump’s military parade, which is set to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army. In a now-deleted Instagram post, he shared that many of his relatives, including grandparents, served in various wars, ranging from World War II to the Revolutionary War.

Tedder lamented that instead of coming together to honor those who served, there seems to be more emphasis on protests and political disagreements. He mentioned, “What happened to celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army and remembering those who sacrificed for our freedom?”

The parade takes place on Saturday, coinciding with Flag Day and Trump’s 79th birthday, and is intended to honor the nation. Trump emphasized the event as a celebration of the country.

However, the parade has drawn criticism from many, particularly among liberal groups who view it as a political statement. Activists, including Walmart heir Chrissy Walton, have organized protests against Trump and the military celebration.

Tedder clarified that he does not align himself with any political party, stating, “I’ve been indifferent to politics for over 20 years. Honestly, it’s all become absurd.” He expressed gratitude towards both active and retired military personnel, hoping for a day free from protest.

Others in the music community have criticized the parade as well. Nancy Wilson of Hart was displeased that her well-known song “Barracuda” was played during the event without permission. She stated it was never meant to be politically utilized, particularly on a day meant for honoring service.

Olivia Rodrigo also expressed her displeasure regarding Trump’s administration, particularly condemning the immigration actions in Los Angeles. In a heartfelt Instagram story, she shared her anger over the treatment of immigrant communities, advocating for empathy and respect.

Additionally, Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day openly criticized Trump’s administration, labeling it as fascist and urging people to resist.

Tedder, when approached for further comment, did not respond immediately.
