Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Markets React to Middle East Tensions

The cryptocurrency markets, especially Bitcoin, are once again feeling the pressure as tensions in the Middle East escalate. This follows President Donald Trump’s early departure from the G7 Summit in Canada and his alarming messages concerning Tehran.

Reports indicate that Trump asked the National Security Council to be ready in the situation room at the White House as he cut short his trip on Monday. His decision came right after he urged everyone to evacuate Tehran via his social media platform, Truth Social.

US news director Caroline Leavitt confirmed that Trump had arrived in Canada for the G7 but left early due to developments regarding the Israeli-Iran conflict. “We’ve achieved a lot, but given the situation in the Middle East, President Trump is returning tonight after dinner with the head of state,” Leavitt noted.

Trump himself commented, “We have to get back early for obvious reasons,” as he departed from the summit.

Bitcoin Price Takes a Hit

In response to the unfolding situation, Bitcoin prices dropped sharply, falling over 2% to below $106,421, after reaching an intraday high of $108,780 earlier.

Bitcoin has been relatively stable in a range since early May, bouncing back past $100,000 of late, but this recent news has sent prices reeling.

Altcoins Also See Significant Losses

Ethereum (ETH) experienced an even steeper decline, dropping almost 4.8% to fall below $2,500 within a few hours. Other major altcoins also suffered losses ranging from 5% to 6%, as market volatility surged.

Total market capitalization has decreased by about $80 billion, with approximately $400 million in leveraged positions liquidated.

Calls for Evacuation Escalate

The tense situation prompted the Chinese embassy in Israel to issue an evacuation warning, urging Chinese citizens to leave the country as soon as possible. The embassy expressed concerns over increasing civilian casualties and worsening security conditions.

Similarly, the Russian Embassy has advised its citizens to exit Israel until the situation stabilizes, according to Ambassador Anatoly Viktrov.

In light of these developments, public sentiment is shifting, with many individuals feeling the need to flee from Tehran in light of Trump’s urging.
