Huma Abedin, a political strategist known for her work with Hillary Clinton, recently shared insights about the wedding of Alex Soros, the son of billionaire George Soros, reported by Trendy.
The couple tied the knot at their residence in Watermill, New York, drawing in many figures from the political sphere. Notable attendees included former President Bill Clinton, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Doug Emhoff.
Initially, Abedin mentioned to Vogue that they had planned to elope, but their plans shifted during an engagement party hosted by Hillary Clinton. Clinton and Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, encouraged the couple to celebrate with a wedding and even suggested a specific date.
“We were engaged without any plans for a wedding,” Abedin recounted. “We considered small dinners in various cities since we have family and friends around the globe, but ultimately chose to have a wedding. [Wintour] took out the calendar and proposed the date. – It’s set.”
Clinton and Wintour played significant roles in organizing the event, according to Abedin.
“Our first planning session was at Hillary’s home with my mother-in-law Susan and Anna. It felt surreal to see such dedicated people working to make the day special,” she shared with Vogue.
On her big day, Abedin wore a custom Givenchy gown, which featured an off-the-shoulder design. Guests included House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), supermodel Carly Kloss, comedian Jimmy Fallon, and investor James Rothschild.
Hillary Clinton also spoke during the reception.
“Hillary has been my mentor and role model for 30 years,” Abedin noted. “Her unwavering loyalty and support have been among the greatest gifts in my life. She insisted we celebrate with a wedding, and, as always, she was right!”
Abedin posted a photo of Clinton alongside Harris, both elegantly dressed in navy gowns, captioned, “Two pioneers!”
Abedin has a history in politics, starting as a White House intern, and was previously married to former Representative Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.).
