Pennsylvania Lowe's employee reportedly kills co-worker on forklift and admits to the crime in an HR email

Tragic Incident at Lowe’s in Pennsylvania

A night shift at a Lowe’s in Scranton took a horrific turn when one employee shot and killed another during a routine work duty. In a rather unsettling follow-up, the shooter reportedly reached out to HR via email before the incident.

Christopher Wasnetsky, 36, allegedly fired multiple shots at 44-year-old Jeff Mohler just after midnight on a Saturday. It was reported that Mohler, a father of three, was critically injured, having been shot twice in the head and once in the back.

Authorities responded promptly, rushing Mohler to Geisinger Community Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Wasnetsky was quickly identified as the shooter and was arrested right at the store’s entrance. Interestingly, he informed the police that he was the one who called 911 and acknowledged his involvement during the call.

Before the tragedy, Wasnetsky had allegedly sent an email to Lowe’s management outlining his grievances and expressing that the situation might have been avoided had someone addressed his concerns earlier.

In discussions with investigators, Wasnetsky claimed that Mohler had been harassing him at work, and that management had failed to take action to resolve the matter. This strained dynamic seemed to have escalated into violence.

According to reports, Wasnetsky practiced with a Springfield 9mm handgun in his backyard before the incident. He confessed to shooting Mohler, initially targeting him while he was on a forklift from about five feet away. After being shot, Mohler tragically fell and pleaded for assistance.

Wasnetsky recounted that he then shot Mohler again, twice in the head, to “end the pain.” Disturbingly, he also mentioned contemplating suicide, though he explained that he didn’t follow through with that plan.

Facing charges of first and third-degree murder, Wasnetsky is currently held without bail at the Lackawanna County Jail. A preliminary hearing is on the calendar for June 30th.

Jeffrey Mohler is remembered by many as a devoted husband and a father to three daughters. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with his funeral expenses.

The fundraising page captures sentiments from those who knew him, highlighting Mohler’s kind heart and joyful spirit. Friends and colleagues have described him as someone who worked hard for his family while always maintaining a positive attitude, even amidst challenges.
