No One Puts Jimmy in the Corner!
Jimmy Fallon is having quite the time at his first Cannes Lions Festival. He even decided to emulate the famous dance lifts made popular by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey during a lively night out.
His journey included “a 7.5 hour flight, a 2 hour layover, and then another hour flight,” he mentioned while appearing at NBCUniversal’s Freewheel Beach. The party atmosphere was palpable as he arrived.
Recently, Fallon and his friend Jim Mannino showed off their version of the classic lift during a dinner outing in Cannes. It’s always a bit different when you try to pull off something iconic, isn’t it? He jokingly acknowledged his height difference with Grey, saying he couldn’t quite reach the same level.
Fallon shared that a spontaneous “dance challenge” broke out at the table next to his. They were dancing to Michael Jackson and the Pointer Sisters, and when the song “(I) Had the Time of My Life” played, he jumped into a friend’s arms. On a panel for his upcoming series “On Brand,” he recounted the moment, remarking, “No one puts Baby in the corner,” and felt compelled to jump in.
He highlighted how the iconic song by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, from the 1987 classic “Dirty Dancing,” inspired him. “I had to do it, man. He wanted it,” he said with a hint of nostalgia.
At Leszczew Restaurant during the festival, he recalled the spontaneous dance-off, bringing smiles to all around him.
Fallon entertained guests with his humor, connecting with fans at places like the Carlton Hotel. He lightheartedly joked, “I said ‘Roy’ today, thinking everyone would know what I meant.” His knack for engaging the audience was clear and added to the festive environment.
He even humorously expressed confusion about marketing terminology, mistaking “LTO” for “limited time only.” During his panel, he asked the audience, “How many people are hungover here? You know how to party!”
His upcoming show “On Brand” also features notable names like Bozoma “Boz” St. John and is set to premiere on NBC this fall. Can’t wait to see how that one turns out!
