April Chapman Reflects on Past Struggles and Redemption
April Chapman, a Christian content creator, has shared her journey through the Gospel of Prosperity, which initially led her to cope with the guilt of having multiple abortions without fully grasping the weight of her actions.
It was only after she discovered the true gospel that she recognized her need for God’s forgiveness.
“Women often do a great job of suppressing the truth and their injustices, trying to fill the void of guilt and shame with various distractions,” Chapman told Ally Beth Stucky on her show regarding the theme of “relevance.”
“For years, I engaged in unhealthy relationships, searching for ways to dull the pain I was feeling,” she said. “It kind of pushed me deeper into a feminist mindset.”
Although Chapman was aware that her pro-choice stance clashed with biblical teachings, she found a way to rationalize it in her mind, explaining, “It was somehow acceptable.”
With her newfound faith, she began to remember her past and confront those memories. “You have to openly acknowledge what you’ve done is sinful. You need to say, ‘I was a murderer.’”
She expressed a realization that her actions disheartened God, saying, “Those were lives; they were babies. I had to consciously remind myself to humanize them.”
Now, as a mother of children with her husband, Chapman remains focused on ensuring her past doesn’t overshadow her parenting.
“The best way to teach my kids about the sinfulness of humanity is to show them that I am a sinner too. Many people struggle to do that, but God has strengthened and equipped me,” she explained.
Chapman admitted to injuring many women through her work as an abortion provider. “These weren’t just chemical procedures; they were surgical, and often without anesthesia. I was given a muscle relaxant that I thought hadn’t taken effect. It was incredibly traumatic,” she recounted. “Within 24 hours, I was left dealing with the fallout from an incomplete procedure.”
Despite her past, she reflected on how God blessed her with children when she least expected it. “God has shown such faithfulness, mercy, and kindness,” she shared.
